Jackson Eaton,
I think I love you. No, I definitely do. I love the raw intimacy he captures and the variant emotions in each photo. And regardless of the various lighting his style/eye(s) are consistent. Also, there's a right amount of breathing room (also aesthetically pleasing) in between the outstanding images. It's like testing perfumes/colognes and smelling coffee beans in between. Or eating sorbet after a bit of food to freshen the palate for dessert!
Check out his site! My favorite series "new portraits for no-one" and "Jackson and Hasisi were never married."

PRJ Update

So these past couple of days I've been pushing myself to just get out there and shoot. Today I walked along Anaheim and shot a few more rolls. From the looks of my weekend shots (above), I really need to work on my composition through angling and cropping. I'm still unsure where all of this exploration is going, but that's okay. This "winter" light feels really good though.

Mr. McGinley, my hat, for you!

This guy is what I've been waiting to see. Lately I've been trying to find photographers whose photographs make me appreciate life even more- photographs celebrating life and human wonder. There is something very sweet and liberating about his photographs (only partially due to the nudity), maybe the light quality? Perhaps the jumping bodies? Or maybe the fact that although some countenances do not look like genuine moments, the people themselves still look very comfortable doing whatever they are doing. Regardless, they feel human.

a bit more of a documentary approach

okay, so for my project i firmly decided that i just want to rediscover photography. i feel mentally/creatively constricted with the idea that i need a concept to define my photography. it makes sense and all since it's a synopsis explaining what i'm doing, but i feel like it takes away a bit of beauty from photography. i really just want to get back to the basics. find the initial love of seeing a beautiful photograph that feels aesthetically pleasing. what's wrong with that? i'll dive into self exploration and from there perhaps a concept. i'm at that point where i believe that concepts shouldn't carry the piece- let the works speak for themselves.
