okay, so for my project i firmly decided that i just want to rediscover photography. i feel mentally/creatively constricted with the idea that i need a concept to define my photography. it makes sense and all since it's a synopsis explaining what i'm doing, but i feel like it takes away a bit of beauty from photography. i really just want to get back to the basics. find the initial love of seeing a beautiful photograph that feels aesthetically pleasing. what's wrong with that? i'll dive into self exploration and from there perhaps a concept. i'm at that point where i believe that concepts shouldn't carry the piece- let the works speak for themselves.

I am so excited for you!! I think you will be successful with this approach. Happy shooting :)
ReplyDeletethank you! :D
ReplyDeleteI retook 499 this semester to do exactly that. Though I can't say that I'm producing anything spectacular! I do enjoy the process however. Basically I've just been taking self-portraits as an approach to exploring my living space as well as my identity. It's also been an excuse to explore some new lighting techniques, namely, as Todd describes it, the "shake and bake" method.
